In this Healio Video Perspective from the American Glaucoma Society meeting, Richard Lewis, MD, chief medical officer of ViaLase, discusses femtosecond laser image-guided high-precision trabeculotomy for the treatment of glaucoma.
“Most of our imaging has been suboptimal in glaucoma surgery,” Lewis said. “The MIGS procedures have been handicapped by a gonioscopic image that is less than ideal, makes it challenging to place the stents and very difficult particularly for the non-glaucoma surgeon.”
The procedure, called FLigHT, is designed to address that problem by combining high-definition gonioscopic imaging with OCT.
“We are embarking on optimizing the procedure,” Lewis said. “It’s an exciting time for ViaLase, and I think it will be an exciting time for all glaucoma surgeons when this technology become available.”
