Regener-Eyes has launched a new preservative-free, multidose bottle with an improved design to prevent backflow and avoid bacterial contamination, according to a company press release.
“Following last week’s discussion with the FDA, we are confident that our new preservative-free bottles meet the standards for backflow prevention for preservative-free multidose bottles, and we are voluntarily recalling any remaining stock of the previous bottles,” a company spokesperson said in the release.
The new bottles, which were developed after consulting with physicians and industry experts, feature a one-way valve that prevents contaminated liquid from being reintroduced into the container after a drop is dispensed. The company’s PureFlow technology maintains the system’s integrity, the release stated.
Regener-Eyes advises consumers who have the previous bottles to contact the company.
“Ensuring the satisfaction and safety of our patients and physicians is of utmost importance, and we believe this recall is the appropriate course of action for the company,” the spokesperson said in the release.
